Mark 12:41-43 “Jesus sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the treasury, and many of the rich put in a great deal”. The word ‘Treasury’ refers to 13 jars with funnel shape opening. Seven out of the 13 are used by people to pay the, “Altar” tax, while the other six are used for voluntary donations. “A poor widow came and put in two small coins, the equivalent of a penny. Then He called his disciples and said to them, ‘In truth I tell you, this poor widow has put more in than all who have contributed to the treasury; for they have all put in money they could spare, but she in her poverty has put in everything she possessed, all she had to live on.” This was the Lord’s way of telling us that the gift of giving is not measured by the amount we give but by the purity of heart that accompany the act of giving. To support your church and to teach your kids to love and care, is extremely important for future generational success of the church. Regardless if you are working or not, young or old, your act of giving and care towards your church will be like the “poor widow’s penny” which will draw all your family members to learn from you, the gift of giving. We all look after our homes and our kids. We teach them to love and care for their parents. Hence, it is only logical and straight forward to teach them to care and maintain our Heavenly Father’s home, His Church, especially we are His Sons and Daughters.
